The Milford Shoreline Youth Football Assoc. needs your help. As a relatively new organization we still are “filling out” our list of volunteers. The “normal” obstacle of a “grassroots” organization such as ours is that 5% of the members do 99% of the work to ensure its continued success. With your help we hope to change that perception and thus ensure that this program will continue past its present crop of dedicated members.

If you wish to participate in any of the below activities please contact the President or Vice-President.

 Shoreline Conference Representatives:

Due to Shoreline Conference By-Laws, this member may not be a “sitting” member of the Milford Shoreline Youth Football Association Executive Board and / or it’s Officers. The Shoreline Conference meets 10 months of the year, skipping November and December, where they discuss both policies and activities related to the Conference as a whole. At this time the Conference has allowed us to use “sitting” officers due to our status as the newest member of the Conference.

We would like to see 2 individuals in this position, a Representative as well as an Alternate.

Duties are to attend the monthly (bi-weekly during August through October) Shoreline Conference meeting and report to the Executive Board on rulings, pending changes, and other business. This will account of 2 nights a month, 3 nights in August through October, and approximately 2 hours each night. Please check the Calendar for meeting times and locations for both events.

Coaching Assistant:

Although we have an able, dedicated, and experienced coaching staff we would like to involve more parents in this area. Our goal is to teach all our participants the fundamentals of football. The best way to do this is to strive for the smallest group of players given to a single Coach. Specifically we are looking for parents to help run “drills” and other related exercises during normal practice sessions. Our main Coaching staff will oversee all players and Assistants insuring the safety of our players. We strive to maintain 3 “Head Coaches” per division and we would like to see 2 “Assistants” per division for practice.

Duties are varied and may or may not, at our Head Coaches option, include “game day” participation. Normal participation is during normal game / practice hours.

Refreshments Group:

This is a simple way to help provide for the future of our program. In the past this has fallen on just 3 of our parents and to say they are “over worked” is an understatement. We are striving for enough participation to make it possible for no one to “work” more then a single Half during any game. We would also like to make it possible to avoid the need to have people working during their Childs game. Time involved is 1 to 2 hours set-up and break down, in addition to a  single game lasting from 1-1/2 to 2 hours. 3 Game days can last from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. So you can see the need to have a large group of participants.

Duties will include set-up, preparation, break down and selling of “refreshments” during normal Home game hours.

Banquet Committee:

With the normal growth of the football program and the addition of our cheerleaders this year, it has become imperative that we now form a committee early. With some 160+ children and their parents we have a need for a more extensive search for a facility.

Duties will include the planning and implementation of our year-end Banquet within the provided budget. This entails working with the Executive board as well as other members of the committee.

The Annual Milford Oyster Festival

This year we would like to continue our efforts in educating and recruitment of Milford residents. We feel that the Annual Milford Oyster Festival will allow us to reach a significant portion of that population.

This is a long-term recruitment tool as we may not be able to accept new registrations at this function. Even so, we feel it will help us in our recruitment drive for the 2005 season and beyond.

Duties will include set-up, operation and planning for this one-day event. Providing a plan of action to the Executive board, possibly working with the Refreshments group, Odd Jobbers and any other actions needed.

Back

Prep Rally Committee

With the growth of our Association we feel it would serve us better to provide more activities that will allow social interaction among our players and families. To that end it is our hope to provide some purely social activities through this committee.

Duties will include the planning, implementation and running of approved activities throughout the season. The main focus will be a pre-season rally to introduce our players.

Odd Jobbers:

There is always a host of other issues that need to be addressed during the year. From simple field maintenance to making phone calls on behalf of the Association.

Duties are varied and can cut across multiple spheres.
